Outtrips

Big Cove YMCA camp is regarded nation wide as one of the premier outripping camps in Canada.  Dating back to our Voyageur trip days, the tradition of the camping trip into nature and away from the usual community bustle of camp has remained a foundation stone of our program.

As a wilderness camp, outtripping is one of the largest programs at Big Cove. Every week, each cabin group will go on an outtrip. These ocean canoeing trips and backpacking trips are a highlight for many of our campers. They provide youth with a sense of accomplishment, while teaching them about teamwork and resourcefulness. For many campers it will be their first wilderness camping experience.

Trips will range from one-night outings for our younger campers to ten-day wilderness excursions for our Leadership participants. Big Cove YMCA Camp is committed to providing safe yet challenging outtrips suited to the age and ability of each camper.

Ocean Canoe Trips

The warm waters of the Northumberland Strait, combined with the natural shelter of Merogomish Harbour allows for safe and spectacular ocean canoeing expereinces, beautiful sunsets, and incredibly rich wildlife.
