Director's Welcome

Thank you Big Covers,

The 2009 camping season was a great success thanks to the hard work of our dedicated staff, volunteers and participants of all ages that came out once again, to share in “the experience that lasts a lifetime.”

Our new Health Centre, equipped with dispensary, wards and large washroom allowed us to provide our greatest level of Health Care at Big Cove YMCA Camp to date, and the acquisition of a Red Seal Chef in our kitchen provided staff and campers with exceptionally tasty and nutritious food.

Leadership, volunteers and staff blazed new trails, prepared land for a new beach volleyball court and built a permanent gaga pit to facilitate one of Big Cove YMCA Camp’s most popular activities for years to come.  These are but a few of the highlights that made 2009 a year at Big Cove to remember.

Most of all however, I was in awe again of the growth in spirit, mind and body within the campers, who learned so much from their counselors and the other camp staff, and  how much the campers in turn taught and helped the staff to grow.

Riding the momentum of such a great year into 2010 will be exciting.  We have new choices for campers, new challenges for leadership and some more surprises too, and I encourage  you to peruse the website further to find out more.

As  Director of Big Cove YMCA Camp it is with pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the rapidly approaching camping season of 2010.

Chickety Rick!
