LIFE AT CAMP
Big Cove campers are divided into three sections - juniors, seniors
and leadership - to ensure our program is designed specifically for
their age. They are then divided into cabin groups of approximately
eight children and are supervised by two counsellors who live and work
with the group to ensure that each camper receives individual time and
attention. Counsellors are supported by a number of program area specialists
who help lead and supervise camp activities. Campers and counsellors
live in rustic, open cabins close to the main camp area. All of our
cabins are a short walk to the dining hall and washhouse facility.
Safe Adventure
The primary concern at Big Cove YMCA Camp is the safety of all our programs.
Specially trained staff closely supervise all our programs. We have
a 24-hour supervision policy to ensure that each camper is under our
constant care and supervision. Our Health Care Manager lives on site
and is equipped with proper first aid supplies to care for our campers
and staff, should any participants require treatment. Local medical
facilities are less than 15 minutes from camp.
The full-time Camp Director, Emily Haynes, lives on site to ensure that
all Big Cove programs are being managed in a safe and risk free manner.
